Landscaping key largo.
A rather surreal type image of a Pirate Ship crashed upon the rocks in the Florida Keys or any other reef. Created and designed by Michael Fazio, owner Of On time back Hoe. A project of this dimension and scope, takes anywhere from 400 to 600 man-hours. The rocks that which you see, and exist in the background are composed of, boulders as large as 7 foot in diameter the largest, of which weighing over 5000 pounds. The overall tonnage of the rocks that you see in the background is somewhere about 25 to 30 tons. Of course you can either supply your own tree or we can have one shipped in. The bouy balls are 33 inches in diameter. The chain was salvaged from New York, when I was in the excavation Marine division local 1456 of the Dock Builders Union in New York City. The pirate is your standard 5 foot wooden pirate. And the lumber was salvaged from a hurricane Katrina Katrina... there are a dozen anchors located throughout the entire tree, and well over 100 feet of chain incorporated into this project of different diameter links. There was also a 5 inch docking line for a large ship called a Hauser, approximately 100 feet long. When I actually totaled up the amount of materials in the time involved in this creation even I myself was surprised. The size of the Art Work itself is 33 feet long and rises up to approximately 17 feet in the trees. Without the tree, or a similar type tree a piece of artwork of this scope from start to finish will take about three months including the ordering of the materials labor, and several other mitigating factors. However you can rest assured that these are One-Of-A-Kind items, and the probability is high that you'll be the only person on the block with a $55,000 mailbox. Which is in fact what this project started out to be almost 2 years ago. Something to hold up a relatively simple copper mailbox, turned into almost 5 months of spare time labor. In comparison, to what many call the national pastime, a.k.a. sports on television, this was time well spent....

This is a Pirate Ship, supposedly crashed upon the rocks in the Florida Keys, created by Michael Fazio owner of OnTimebackhoe.com in front of his personal home located around the corner from the Pilothouse Restaurant, and can be seen lit up at night or viewed during the day from the streey along Seagate Boulevard, and North Channel Dr. Something like this could be created for anyone with an imagination and if you were to give me the layout and the type of supplies that you interested in having in your art work I would be more than happy to help you with your project for a minimum consultation FEE, depending on location and time incurred, which would be deducted upon completion of the job.
There will be a list of pricing for certain items towards the end of this document, however each job is an entity of its own, and pricing is determined, on location, and the scope of the job itself.
This is supposed to represent a Pirate Ship Crashed upon the Rocks and was created by On Time Back Hoe in the spring of 2006 by Remnants of Hurricane Katrina that were left scattered throughout the keys and donations by the Aquarius undersea laboratory and their staff.
These next two images are the port and starboard side of the front entrance to any house here in the Keys. A simple addition of some curbstones cut, mitered, and then the edges are beveled, and concreted into place provide two additional benefits to an entranceway. The first would be an added dimension of depth, and the second would be an attractive barrier to keep the stones from tumbling onto the pathway. The addition of a few two to 3 foot boulders , a piece of driftwood, and 50 feet of three to 4 inch line, is a quick and simple way to create a Florida Keys style of entrance. The addition of a few conch shells, and short section of chain can be added any time after the project is complete.
To the underlying explanation of being... {{{ On Time }}} and exactly what it means to be just that! What does it mean to be on time? As a former Jet Mechanic, it means everything. As the owner of a Marine Construction Co. in New York it was Extremely Important. But there is more to being {{{ on time }}} then meets the eye. People judge you throughout life if your ability to Prove Your Worth to Them. In the corporate world which may seem distant from the Florida Keys, everything is based {{{ On Time }}} and performance. The Term {{{ Bottom Line, }}} is usually determined if someone performs a certain function {{ On Time }}}. Debris and rubbish removal, from a 7 1/2 acre site located on the old road in Islamorada. The equivalent of 75 20 yard containers of trees, were removed from this site in wood chips, large unmanageable stumps, and tree trunks over 4 foot in diameter. The site was cleared to make way for a future condominium association in just under five weeks with a crew of three men.
On the many types of contracting I have done, excavation/ landscaping has become my favorite. In the FLORIDA KEYS there are endless possibilitys for creativity and the satisfaction one gets from the feeling of turning ROCK TO RUBBLE, and turning that RUBBLE into ARTISTIC LANDSCAPES, and the like.
I have the ability to create any possible ROCK SCAPE, or SCAPES you may wish for using the Machine I call ON TIME, which, has the capacity to dig 21 feet from the piviot pin in the rear of the machine and slide from side to side to circumvent pipes and other obsticals. About the backhoe that which I call {{{ On-Time }}} itself. This is the most diversified backhoe loader, created by Caterpillar of any series since its inception. The loader itself is designated as a 428 -B the model, and is the most powerful in the 420 series even unto present-day. It has a lifting capacity that dwarfs the 300 or 420 series by almost 1000 pounds. In addition to its additional lifting capacity it has a set of forks on the front bucket that are adjustable up to 8 feet wide with 4 foot tang's, with a lifting capacity of approximately 2000 pounds, easily lifting a unit of block of pavers, or any other similar load, to a height of 10'3" high. But the true spirit of the 428B Spirit series, is in the back of the machine itself. The first of the two special functions is an Extend a Hoe Bucket that reaches 21 feet from the pivot. However the second special function is what they call us a Slide Boom, is found on this machine and this machine only in the Florida Keys. It's special function is to allow the machine to straddle a pipe digging operation or pipe excavation operation down the length of the driveway or any open area and giving the machine 85% breakout force at 30% off the center line of the machine. The boom slides back and forth, which is in reality side to side of the machine, and approximately 8 feet difference from the center pivot point to of the boom when measured from side to side. Thus giving the machine an 8 foot wide footing in which to lift extremely heavy loads that would tip both at any other machine without this additional option. But the super special addition that this modification to the machine makes is that it can dig up to a eight-foot wide swath behind the machine in between either two buildings that have only a 10 foot working opening area between the two structures, be they buildings or driveway walls the machine can still work at 50% breakout force along either longitudinal axies of the front and rear wheels This machine was especially designed to work in extremely tight areas in Europe, digging out septic lines and high-pressure water lines in between a narrow buildings in Italy and throughout all of Europe itself. There is a specially designed rock digging bucket, that allows me to dig the sometimes extremely hard coral rock in the Florida Keys, with a minimum of breakout force. The lighting system on the machine allows me to dig, or work either in the later part of the day or at night without any additional lighting. To give you an idea how unique this machine is their are only four machines in the United States that are for sale at this present time, as opposed to tens of thousands of normal everyday backhoes that you see running up and down the road all day long. The initial cost of the machine was twice that you would expect to pay for a backhoe but the additional options have made it worth the investment.
Slide boom trolley that is only installed on a handful of specialty backhoes in America.
This is what is called the Slide Boom, or Slide Boom Trolley, which will be mentioned in several bolth previous caption, and in many of the following captions to come, At this particular time, the boom is slid all the way over to what would be the driver's side of the vehicle, if that existed on a backhoe. And as previously stated, this trolley mechanism allows the entire backhoe mechanism to slide 8 feet from side to side. Allowing it extremely large amounts of breakout force to be exercised with the bucket of the backhoe itself, in a longitudinal axies with the machine itself.
When digging or trenching along the existing pipes or for the new installation of pipes near pre-existing lines this is an extremely valuable tool. And it is such because, it does not pull material towards the center of the machine which in most cases would be in direct conflict with a pre-existing water pipe or sewer lines that exists in the trench at the center of the machine.
In other words it does not pull material towards the center of the machine, which would have a tendency to pull rocks and debris into a pre-existing pipe, or electrical cable

When you take a close look and see that the Backhoe Boom and Stick Is Tucked in Next to the Trolley, It is easy to understand how this machine can work in 25% less work area than the typical backhoe loader configuration.
Because it does not stick out 8 feet from the back of the machine itself, where the pivot is located this machine requires 10 foot less space in which to turn around and work. There is also an extended boom on this machine which allows you to work 21 feet from the pivot point on either side of the slide or trolley, and for trenching purposes 24 feet from the center of the machine when measured from the center of the machine towards the right or left wheel.

A cascading waterfalls into a pool is a relatively common theme among many homeowners. Depending on the height of the waterfalls, the location for it to be incorporated in, and the intricacy of the waterfalls itself, the size of the water pump, and the type of the materials used in the creation of the waterfall itself, will determine the total cost of the job.
Larger waterfalls incorporated into the original plan of the pool itself, will require a licensed plumber, that may either be provided by the customer, the contractor, or myself. This tank was specifically designed by AO Smith Company can be used as a high pressure air tank in a 1943 submarine. The maximum psi a loud for this type of air tank is 5500 psi. These air tanks were used to charge torpedoes and create ballast, in order to make the submarine cable once again surface after any particular dive. I have three of these tanks in my possession which I plan on using for the sole purpose of fence posts for the driveway gate as well as the walk-in entrance gate.

During step two, the stainless steel rods have to be nudged into place with an 18 pound modified sledgehammer, which just simply requires brute force, a little finesse and the tenacity to place oneself underneath the a stone weighing approximately 2000 pounds and banging on those stainless steel bars which is the only thing holding up a stone that weighs approximately what a small car weighs with a sledgehammer, thus popping them into the holes that were previously drilled in the upper rock...

Decorative Coral Boulders
ROCK FOR SALE/ ENTRANCE ROCK
This is one small segment of a coral boulder that marks the entrance to my gate. This particular boulder is 5 foot in diameter and 3 foot thick with approximately 8 distinctive types of coral that can be seen with the naked eye as you open up the gate itself. Although this segment of the work is not completed yet the pictures will be added as they become available and the work is completed. This is once again located at 31 North channel Drive in Key Largo, four doors away from the Pilothouse Restaurant.
The stone is now properly set into place and the chains will be removed. The entire process took approximately 15 hours which included eight hours of hole drilling in the under rock in the over rock that the stainless steel rods went into. In addition to that time it took approximately 12 hours to set the bottom rock and a base of concrete and one to 2 foot boulders if you days before the drilling began. And if you'll notice to a 3 rods in this picture are easily seen to be offset by several degrees, and this was done on purpose to eliminate dressed or swaying of the rocks and to give them lateral stability.
The backhoe loader can now be backed away from the lift, and the chains can be removed after I become 100% sure that this is where I want this particular stone to live its life...
This was the drilling process in its early stages. The entire drilling process took approximately 12 hours to drill 20 holes 10 in the bottom rock and 10 in the top. The holes that are not filled with stainless steel rods will be used in the future to hold lighting fixtures and possibly a circular aquarium that will run along the outside perimeter of the bottom rock.

Drilling Coral the Old-Fashioned Way
Depending on your needs, I have the ability to DRILL any size hole up to 2 inches in diameter and 2 feet deep into coral or concrete if necessary. Please note that drilling holes in coral of this nature is extremely labor-intensive than that for the most part should not be an undertaking for the average homeowner....

Pricing is determined solely on a job to job basis, and in all fairness to both myself and to you each job should be looked at individually and assessed.
However there are some basic prices based on a per day, per hour or per week schedule.
All prices are negotiable based on availability... and whether or not you are a repeat customer which would also be taken into consideration.
These prices will vary from $75-$125 per hour depending on conditions and location, in conjunction with the total scope of the job itself.
$75 per hour is a rate based on an eight hour day, including travel time, to either move sand, gravel, or other type of material, and or, to dig dirt or sand, and not rock!
Before viewing my price schedule to dig Coral Rock, you should understand, that this particular machine can dig coral rock 60% faster, and more efficient than any of the other machines in the general area. The two biggest factors that contribute to this additional work performance, are the machine itself, combined with the proficiency of the operator...
Digging holes in coral rock is probably the most abusive application a machine of any nature can be used for.
In the case of my backhoe digging rock in the Florida Keys and minimum fee of $125 per hour, will be charged, including a $50 per hour relocation fee one way.
However for this type of application it would be more beneficial to both parties if I were to just give you a flat fee for any particular job that will require more than two or three hours to complete.
There is a flat fate of $350 for the first three hours to dig rock, dirt, or tree stump, or tree removals, plus travel time based on $50 per hour if the job requires more than the three-hour minimum.
There is a flat minimum fee of $250 for any job that requires up to two hours, including travel time.

Estimates requiring written confirmation will be billed at a rate of $25 per hour not exceeding $100 for any single written estimate.
These estimates will be honored as a firm price for the job described in the estimate, and if there are no changes in the job description given in the estimate, the estimate will be considered a legitimate price for the said job. At which point a time schedule will be set up in the job will be done for that price, when accepted by the contractor and/or the homeowner.
This service fee will always
be deducted upon completion of the job.
Free estimates are in the form of verbal estimates only, and limited to the immediate general area of mile marker 91 up to and including mile marker 106, unless you are an established repeat customer.
Written estimates, will be based on a $25 per hour fee and be extremely accurate, in as far as materials and labor, based on customer's needs and his explanation of the job itself. The written estimate will be the price of the job itself, and the service fee of the estimate will always be deducted upon completion of the job itself. If in fact the customers explanation of what is necessary is correct, the estimate will be the price of the job itself. Time incurred for the written estimate, will include travel time in both directions, time spent with the customer, and the time involved to research the price of the materials.
The first half-hour of of any estimate is free, billing time begins after the first 30 minutes have expired, which includes the initial consultation and time spent to research material costs.
The service fee for the estimate will be paid to the contractor when the written estimate is completed and signed.
However no written estimate service fee will ever exceed $100.
A $50 deposit will be excepted, in the form of a check, upon the first meeting, and the balance will be due when the estimate itself is submitted to the contractor or homeowner. No estimate will exceed the $100 service fee.
